Each year around this time Cleveland metal fans pour into the Beachland Ballroom for a free show with a huge lineup of local bands. They come bearing cans of food and sacks of pet food because it's the annual Metal Holiday Food Drive. Sat 12/5.

The issue of food waste has come to the foreground in recent years, as both social justice and environmental activists promote the need to address how much food is produced and thrown away. Come to the CWRU farm in Hunting Valley to hear how local businesses are tackling the problem. Sat 11/7.

* It's getting to be hot soup weather. At SouperBowlCle in Gordon Square, you can try 20 different soups at various spots in the neighborhood and vote on your favorite. Proceeds go to help those in need via the West Side Catholic Center. Sat 11/7.
