Composer/conductor Pierre Boulez is one of the greatest living classical musicians. As a composer he staked out ground in the atonal avant-garde early in his career, but he's worked in many styles. As a conductor, he's worked with virtually every major orchestra in the world. He spend two years in the early ’70s as Musical Advisor to the Cleveland Orchestra, which will be honoring his 90th birthday this week, playing some of his works as well as works he's conducted with the Orchestra. If the promise of a bag of locally grown, raised or produced food isn't enough to get you to the weekly Saturday Coit Road Farmers Market, maybe its schedule of hands-on demonstrations and workshops will. This year's demos start with a pasta-making session co-hosted by the Little Lakewood Pasta Company, where visitors can learn how to make different types of pastas and then try it themselves. Check out the upcoming sessions, including smokies, pierogies and caring for cast-iron cookware. Sat 1/17.
