Steve Popovich (pictured), who died in 2011 at age 69, moved to the top of the record label corporate ladder in NYC but returned to Cleveland to launch his own label — and Meat Loaf. The 3rd annual Steve Popovich memorial at the Beachland with polka rockers Brave Combo pays tribute to his epic life and his love of Cleveland & ethnic eastern European culture. Fri 7/4.

Cassandra Fears' chocolate shop Fears' Confections in North Collinwood has been a delightful addition to the local scene, with its array of homemade specialty chocolate candies and brownies. She's closing up her current shop in late July, but she's not going away. Look for her new location opening in the fall.

* The West Side Market is closed on Friday July 4, normally a business day for it. But never fear: it's opening on an irregular day — Thursday — so you can stock up for your picnic or camping trip. Thu 7/3.
