I frequently hear talk about what Cleveland's lakefront lacks in terms of human-made development; however, in such discussion, we often forget to recognize what the lakeshore within the city proper DOES offer.
Sometimes we neglect to appreciate the less disturbed segments of the shoreline... Read more from Robert Carillio here
If you can imagine the Rust Belt cities being connected to one another by veins, the streaks linking Cleveland to Youngstown have been, well, rusting and decomposing for a while.

We all love Lake Erie, almost as much as we love our dogs. Which is a lot, since 40% of U.S. households have at least one dog. That means there's a lot of dogs living in Cool Cleveland. "There are approximately 90,000 dogs living in Cuyahoga County," says Frank Greenland, Director of Watershed Programs for the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. And a lot of dogs means a lot of dog waste.
In fact, Cuyahoga dogs produce approximately 45 tons of dog poop each day. When it rains, this runoff contributes to many water-quality problems, impacting local waterways as well as area beaches. Plus, dog poop can contain other bacteria such as e. coli, salmonella and giardia.
What can you do? Don't drop your dog's poop in storm drains. Take a biodegradable bag with you on walks, and simply drop it in the trash. You can lean more, and watch some adorable videos at WhereDoesItGo.org/PUP
