Beautiful
It's in the eye of the beholder. The City Beautiful movement took hold in Cleveland, Chicago, D.C. and elsewhere around the turn of the last century espousing good looking buildings, coupled with moral and civic uplift. What are you engaged in to help beautify NEO? Here's what some of our friends are doing.Knockin' On Cleveland's Door, shot on an iPhone, showcases our city in an international context at Waterloo Arts Gallery. Local group City Beautiful hosts Imagine Factory at the City Club in true PechaKucha style. Cedar-Taylor isn't taking it lying down, so 60 businesses and proactive residents are organizing to beautify their slice of the Heights. Akronite Ryan Humbert has done a lot for his region; he's Half Way Home at TKS. For four days, the OIFF takes over the Atlas Theatre in Euclid with over 50 independent films. Claudia Taller escapes to Ashtabula Wine Country. Loren Naji continues to redefine beauty as he launches his installation-only Satellite Gallery in North Collinwood. Nearly 20 years later after Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as South Africa's first democratically elected president, South African photographer Dale Yudelman released his project Life Under Democracy.
Shot with an iPhone 4 camera, this project was inspired by an Ernest Cole exhibition, Life Under Apartheid, and Yudelman later went on to win the first Ernest Cole award before bringing his talent to Cleveland.

Students in Cuyahoga Community College’s (Tri-C) Hospitality Management program are learning about entrepreneurship by developing their own products.
Under the supervision of Chef Karen L. Monath, students have created their own blend of coffee, Presidents Blend ($14.95/lb.); and Bistro 87 Granola ($11.95), named after the student-run restaurant at the Metropolitan campus where the products are available for purchase. Both products make great gifts, and proceeds support the Hospitality Management Scholarship Fund.

The Ohio Independent Film Festival is back this weekend, and better than ever. The four day festival will be taking place at the Atlas Theatre on Lakeshore in Euclid, and will feature over 50 Independently funded films of both a local and international variety.
CoolCleveland Correspondent Marty Bielat met up with the festival's Director, Peter Balint, to catch up on some of the details. Balint spoke highly of the new location for the festival, in addition to highlighting some films worth checking out -- like the local favorite "Good Boys" by CSU student Max Miller.
The two locally owned Mustard Seed Markets specialize in healthy organically grown and raised items and foods with no additives. They also offer classes and workshops like the upcoming ones on making vegan food that's tasty and satisfying and eating an anti-inflammatory diet while still enjoying traditional fall holiday flavors like pumpkin. The Uphill Struggle In My Virtualess Cleveland Community
A couple months ago we saw a huge push in the advocacy for net neutrality. The issue was all over the news, the Internet, and the term itself seemed to be on the tips of everybody's tongues, but I believe there’s more to the story.
The war for equality, in regards to the internet, should not just be limited to a virtual space. Instead, the war for equality, in regards to the Internet, is happening right in your backyard.
