Best In Town
This is not the case in Cleveland. At least not the cool neighborhoods we cover, including the neighborhoods and hip areas like Lakewood, Cleveland Heights and Akron. Of course corporate culture exists, but it hasn't taken over. Which means we're fighting a battle. Shop local. Play Local. Start local businesses. Experience local art. There's no guarantee any of it will be here later if you don't.
Which is why we do our thing every week and spotlight the best local stuff in town and send it to your inbox. And why we do it everyday and post it to our mobile app. Just for you. To help you keep this place from becoming boring. Like so many other big cities. --Thomas Mulready

The sinister has always existed in these parts, and the latest show curated by Breakneck Gallery, James "The Human Furnace" Bulloch, Ron Kretch and Martin Geramita is set to celebrate it.

In 2005, at the beginning of his second term, George W. Bush signed the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCCA), which gives gun manufacturers, distributors and dealers almost unlimited immunity from civil liability lawsuits.
This legislation -- passed by a Republican-dominated Congress and backed by the NRA -- resulted in the immediate dismissal of several lawsuits against gun manufacturers and distributors that were being litigated at the time and has been the basis for the dismissal of numerous subsequent lawsuits as well...

Nothing like history for restoring perspective. Look back a few hundred or a few thousand years and everything seems clearer.
But if we use that approach on classical ballet, the traditional narrative begins with a bunch of scheming European aristocrats who -- let's face it -- hijacked ballet as an advertisement for the preservation of their own inherited wealth and privilege...

Rest assured there are many, many dog lovers in federal prison, and since they have already lost their liberty they are free to live life by a totally different set of rules, at least in certain circumstances.
Prisons, on occasion, can be brutal and deadly places, made more so by the fact there's really only one place to hide...

The carpetbagger from Tennessee didn't take long find a way to fleece northern sports suckers.
Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, one of society's takers, will pocket the $100-million naming rights on a property tax-free stadium built, owned and maintained by taxpayers. He already had a sweet deal for a pittance of rent ($250,000) never to increase over 30 years.
And you wonder why Jimmy seems always to have a grin, ear to ear...

Roldo - It's naive to believe that large bureaucracies respond to average citizens with no clout whenever they have a problem. Requests or complaints can be met or thrown in the wastebasket depending on the whims or fears of the paper shufflers. Officials elected at large have to only serve the people who have the weight to keep them in office while ignoring the rest...
