Ralph Waldo Emerson said: "Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience." Winter's quiet pace in nature is from a human standpoint only. When you patiently stand still in these woods, its secrets really come to life - in the form of hardy little birds. And at certain places, if you stretch out your arm with sunflower seeds in the palm of your hand and wait patiently, chickadees, tufted titmice and maybe even a cardinal will flit cautiously in to take a treat. The thrill of their subtle touch is delightful. Learn more and watch the video by Carol Drummond here.

It's hard to believe that the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce is 100 years old. Come celebrate a century of hometown business with the Lakewood Chamber at their Centennial Gala on Sat 4/9 at The Beck Center for the Arts.
To commemorate the anniversary, Cool Cleveland had a look at two well-known Lakewood businesses at opposite ends of that timeline. We started at Geiger's, now in their 78th year, talking with Gordon Geiger, and then popped next door to check out Melt Bar & Grilled with owner Matt Fish, who's been in business about 5 years. Both establishments have since expanded to multiple locations throughout the region, and they talk about why Lakewood was such a good place for their businesses to launch and thrive. Watch the video here.

Had Eliesha Nelson not been an Air Force brat, she might never have come to Cleveland. She might never have become a valued member of the Cleveland Orchestra viola section, and might not even be going to Los Angeles for Sunday evening's Grammy Awards. She wouldn't need to be going there because she might not have made an album that was nominated for four Grammys...! Read more from Kelly Ferjutz here

The reason I keep going back to the Phillip Morris/Uncle Tom issue is made evident by one of his supporters who responded to my column last week. While the man wrote as if he were reasonably intelligent, his logic, in the end, made no sense.
He posited that Morris and other conservatives were right... if underclass parents just did their jobs in the proper manner all of their problems would be solved...

Mansfield: Retort- A Tom Is Still a Tom While I'm certainly not on the level of Mansfield when it comes to knowing our country's history and specifically the problems that have faced the black population in this country since their introduction, I have to wonder who's responsibility it is to fix the problems that exist for the black population...

I kinda like Clarence Thomas. We share a common background of being raised by Jesuits and studying Thomism, which in our case had to do with that round guy, Thomas Aquinas, not the Tom-ism you’re talking about.
