By Hands Fine Art & Craft Festival @ I-X Center 11/14-16 And just when you think the Fabulous Food Show can't get any better, it does! This year, the By Hands Fine Art & Craft Festival, with over 200 artists from across the country, co-located with the Food Show over the same weekend creating an extravaganza of sensory delights. When visitors first entered the I-X Center before attending the Food Show, they had the opportunity to view one of a kind, hand crafted jewelry, pottery, woodworking, wool hats, woven shawls, photography, paintings, and art design clothing and speak directly with the artists about their creations.
Mixed media artists Patti and Bob Stern from Moreland Hills, http://www.theperfectview.com, displayed their whimsical human body curio cabinets made out of a combination of vintage window frames, antique table legs, architectural artifacts, and hardware (see picture). For over ten years, they have been submitting their unique artwork to juried art shows and galleries across the country.
Another exhibiting artist, Joseph Kinches from Canal Fulton, is a certified goldsmith, lapidary, and silversmith. To help with his jewelry creations, he has an 81-year old skilled assistant who does all the bead work, his mother, Dorothy, but people only know her as Joe's mom. "It's hard to keep her down," smiled Joe. They can be found at http://www.collectorcabz.com. This top quality, no-charge art show was an added bonus and a visual treat.
