Cleveland Orchestra @ Blossom Festival 7/11 Blossom Music Center (the summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra) sparkled both musically and environmentally Saturday night. Guest conductor Lionel Bringuier brought out the animated glories of Franz Liszt’s “Mephisto Waltz No. 1” and the stately beauties of Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” (as transcribed by Ravel for orchestra). Soloist Simon Trpæeski poured on the passion for Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto, No. 2” despite what he described later as “little bugs on the keyboard.” The first movement needed a little less orchestra and a lot more piano, but once the piano re-took the “full moon and empty arms” theme, the balance seemed near-perfect.
