Cool Cleveland got a rare peek at the Armington Raptor Center hidden inside the Perkins Wildlife Center and Woods Garden at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

Harvey Webster, Director of Wildlife Resources is getting ready for Birds, Beasts, Brats and Beer on Thu 8/22, which is the only time during the year when the public is able to grab a Great Lakes beer and a brat and get up close and personal during the event’s Animal Encounter.

Watch along and meet George the Bald Eagle, Omega the one-eyed Eastern Screech Owl, Sweeney the Red-Tailed Hawk, Vinnie the Turkey Vulture, a matched pair of Barred Owls, Beaker and Archie, who is 38 years old, possibly the oldest Bard Owl known. CMNH.org

Cleveland Museum of Natural History director of exhibitions Joel Alpern shows us around a few of his favorites from the Top 100 wildlife photographs. These winners were chosen from over 48,000 entries from 98 countries.

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition was organized by the Natural History Museum in London, and was started by the BBC Magazine in 1965. This amazing exhibition will be on view at CMNH, free with museum admission, through Sun 9/15/13. The kids will love it, too. CMNH.org

Dr. Darin Croft may have one of the coolest jobs in the world.

He's a research associate at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and he helped prepare for their new exhibit "Megalodon: Largest Shark That Ever Lived."

Listen to this interview as he talks about this fascinating and massive and prehistoric shark that lived for 15 million years and has been extinct for about 2 million years.

Have a look at their cool exhibit, with jaws of increasing size showing adolescent and mature shark jaws, and a huge display that allows visitors to actually walk inside this 60-foot long sculpture the size of Megalodon.

Also on display is "Sharkabet! A Sea of Sharks from A to Z," an exhibition of fantastical but scientifically accurate paintings of sharks in action by artist Ray Troll. CMNH.org.

It's official. For the first time in their 90 year history, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History just announced a major expansion and renovation. The $125 million project will bring the basement laboratories, research centers and bone collections out for public view while building two new wings and a spectacular new entryway.
