It’s the first time Cleveland Public Library has done such a thing.

They're issuing library cards to over 2000 kindergarten students in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, as well as charter and parochial schools, completely free of charge, just to start kids off on a lifetime of learning.

Cool Cleveland talks with Brian Belmont, principal of Constellation Schools' Eastside Arts Academy in Slavic Village while Lan Gao, the children’s librarian at CPL's nearby Fleet Branch issues the cards to the students and reads stories with them. CPL.org
