Just in time to showcase the international exhibition on William Shakespeare's First Folio, the Cleveland Public Library is unveiling a wide range of improvements and renovations that have long been in the works.

Follow Aaron Mason, the Library's assistant director of outreach and programming services, as he shows CoolCleveland around. From a new Welcome Room to the beautiful Indoor Reading Garden and Friends of CPL Gift Shop, the Stokes Wing has never looked better, or been better suited to serve the needs of Clevelanders. Shakespeare turns 400 this year, and to celebrate, the Cleveland Public Library is exhibiting Shakespeare's First Folio! The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare in the Treasure Room of Special Collections in the Main Library in downtown Cleveland.

CoolCleveland got a sneak peek and spoke with Pamela Eyerdam, Fine Arts & Special Collections Manager and Ray Rozman, Metadata Archivist about the Folio, related costumes, fun costumes, and their cool interactive touchscreen “Magic Box,” all free and open to the public. But hurry, the First Folio exhibit closes July 30 at the Cleveland Public Library.

Cleveland Public Library’s Landmark Series commissions the work of local artists to be displayed on new library cards.

Listen as CoolCleveland meets with Cleveland artist Amy Casey, whose intricate, connective image of Cleveland buildings and bridges, “Dissemination,” is featured on their new library card. Casey earned her BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art, has exhibited her work nationally, and is a resident artist at Zygote Press.

The best place to read in the City, the CPL's Eastman Reading Center, just got an upgrade. With the newest instiallation in CPL and LAND Studio's See Also Series: Andréa Keys Connell's "Migration," the outdoor garden has been transformed into a literary wonderland with ceramic statues representing characters from CPL's extensive collection of novels.
