The Precarious Nature of Our Lives
Red Dot Project's new online gallery

Endure, the first on-line gallery event from RED DOT Project, features abiding works on canvas by Robert L. Stockham, durable metal jewelry by Qandle Qadir and steadfast metal-tiled collages by Chris Zielski.

The physical opening of the show was hosted by environments 4 business in their 515 Euclid Avenue store on February 11th; the modern office furnishings in their showroom were an appropriate back drop for showcasing these original pieces. Ironically, this brief, one-evening showing was the kick off for the on-line gallery exhibit named Endure! The name of the exhibit is a reaction to the fast-paced and precarious nature of our lives. The stability of long-lasting materials, used to create physical, enduring art work makes a compelling statement.

Robert L. Stockham features his own poignant photos, transferred loosely to canvasses, which portray haunting, subtle images, as if you came across an old cabin, wiped a clean patch on the window and peeked inside, to see a well-worn interior setting. Qandle Qadir's sturdy, metal jewelry reflects the enduring backdrop that steel mills, railroads and the like have played in our rust belt city. Chris Zielski's lustrous metal-tiled collages are softened by etchings and photo-transfers of organic objects such as leaves, and natural shapes like trees, skylines, birds and map features take the edge off the gleaming grids.

Qadir's jewelry has a much sleeker presence when seen in person. The super-close-up photos on the gallery's web site make them appear rougher and grittier than they are. The pieces created by Stockham and Zielski give the impression of being larger when viewed on-line than when viewed physically.

Selected pieces by these three artists can by viewed and purchased at http://wwwshopreddotproject.com, the on-line gallery, until March 15th. RED DOT Project has scheduled periodic, themed on-line gallery exhibits, with one-evening physical openings throughout 2010.
