Internship is part-time (2-10 hours per week) and unpaid, but class credit may be available. Offices are in Lakewood, Ohio, but some of the work may be done via the Internet. We are looking for interns to assist in helping with the details of putting the Cool Cleveland e-letter together on a weekly basis. This position starts immediately.

Editorial Internship Requirements:

• Must be committed to working independently and under supervision of senior editor. Editing duties include reading of stories/events for internal logic and thematic consistency, proofreading for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and usage.
• The ability to lift clunky/awkward writing, remove extraneous words/phrases, smooth transitions and make content more readable without negatively altering the meaning or style of writer.
• Write press releases with snappy, fresh writing. Frequent events of your choice and write reviews.
• Fact check web links and events selected to run in WCLV and Cleve Magazine.
• Select and pitch topics for possible article features. Research and follow up by generating articles.
• Write news in readable and intelligent style. Proofread and do online research with weekly deadlines.
• Execute these duties over a remote computer on internet (with WiFi preferred) and a fast Internet connection (DSL, cable speeds or better).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Internet browsing, online publications, e-mail newsletters, and blogs.
• Candidate must have the ability to learn new software on a regular basis.
