Fatherhood
We're helping Cain Park celebrate 75 entertaining years, we throw the spotlight on mixed media at Doubting Thomas, and we talk with actor Peter Lawson Jones, who, as a Cuyahoga County Commissioner started the Fatherhood Initiative, about the world premiere of Fatherhood 101 this week. Commentator Joe Baur suggests that pedestrians take back the streets, and Roldo totes the cost of public money going to corporate welfare.
Our new #Hashtag Game caught on last week, so we're doing it again, and you can play. Anytime today, Wed 6/12, tweet or Instagram an event you think deserves more coverage using #CoolCleveland, and we'll pick a winner and give them (and you!) a little extra publicity this week. And as always, we're giving away $20 when you use the CC app, the mother of all apps. Come to papa. --Thomas Mulready

Now in its third year with the Vineyards at Chateau Hough, Mansfield Frazier has just received angel funding to kick off his next urban agriculture project, the BioCellar at Chateau Hough.
Remove the shell of any of the 15,000 abandoned homes in Cleveland that are beyond repair, and build a greenhouse over top, leaving the basement under the frost line, where mushrooms, selling for $12 a pound, can be grown in a hi-tech BioCellar to grow crops, create jobs and reuse the land, for a triple bottom line.

Looking at television today vs. twenty years ago, you'll notice two significant trends in the family sitcom: 1. There's less of them. 2. The fathers have, mostly, devolved into buffoons, more caricatures than characters.
Without the presence of Bill Cosby, we've gone from the unrealistic Father Knows Best to the abysmal Father Knows Nothing...

The term "Mixed Media" immediately drums up both thoughts of cross-disciplinary masterpieces and amateurish combinations of various elementary school crafts. Sometimes you don't know what you're getting with this type of show.
However, THE MIX (opening Fri 6/14 @ Doubting Thomas) boasts an all-star roster of local talent and one special guest -- the caliber of which is worth the visit alone...

It seems Clevelanders of all stripes have forgotten cars can cause more destruction to pedestrians than pedestrians to cars.
Any soul with a flickering light left in their brain stem would agree this is common knowledge.
Yet we still have a problem with motorists assuming pedestrians are the problem and not vice verse...

ROLDO: Disgusting Record of Cleveland Downtown Scams I enjoy reading your well-researched critiques of our city. Most major US cities face the same basic problems... poverty, school funding, etc. You obviously disagree with most major decisions made here over the past 30-35 years. Which major city do you think has done the best job of dealing with these issues? Is there a positive role model for Cleveland to follow?...
