Giancarlo Guerrero
Guest Conductor, Cleveland Orchestra

Giancarlo Guerrero's passion for music is evident from the first moments of this video interview with Cool Cleveland's Thomas Mulready, as he explains how, growing up in Costa Rica, he first came to classical music when the audition line for violins was too long, instigating his switch to percussion.

He leads concerts in Cleveland 3/20-22, and in Miami 3/28-29 with the Cleveland Orchestra performing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, featuring wildly popular violin prodigy Midori, as well as Ravel's orchestration of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, which will be the subject of his Musically Speaking talk in Cleveland before the Saturday 3/22 matinee.

In this video, you'll also hear him talk about Roberto Sierra's Fandangos (listen to a sample here), a featured work on the program, as he promises, "Everyone in that concert hall will be tapping their foot and yelling and screaming..." http://www.ClevelandOrchestra.org
