Mayor Frank Jackson has supported Cuyahoga County's initiative to build a $1 billion convention center and Medical Mart since the effort began. But when he heard about the latest delay in selecting a site, and the fact that developers Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. were considering a smaller center that may not have been in line with research provided by Positively Cleveland and the Greater Cleveland Partnership, the Mayor decided to turn up the heat, and flew to Chicago to meet with MMPI officials.
