The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage has teamed up with Cool Cleveland Kids and Linq·2 Communications to celebrate superheroes and all things comic with a post-Halloween kids bash on Thu 11/6 from 5-7PM. This is one cool party you won't want to miss! Kids can enter our costume contest and parade (prizes for best costume and best superhero), ride in a Batmobile that's just their size, draw their own comics, watch cartoons and vintage serials and read as many comics as they wish. Includes kids refreshments, activities and admission to the Museum and Zap! Pow! Bam! exhibition. Tickets are $20/family (up to two adults and up to three children). Free copy of new Cool Cleveland Kids guide for each family. Map here. THIS PARTY IS SOLD OUT

Join the fun and explore "Zap! Pow! Bam! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books, 1938-1950" featured at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage through January 4, which immerses visitors in an interactive world of Super Heroes, and illuminates the creative processes that drove their originators to provide America with timeless icons such as Superman, Batman, Captain America and Wonder Woman.

In addition to rare, never-before-displayed comic book art and memorabilia, Zap! Pow! Bam! features 1940s serials, video interviews, a vintage, child-sized Batmobile ride, an interactive phone booth, a drawing studio, and costumes for visitors of all ages to enjoy. Though prominently featured, Superman is but one of the subjects on display in Zap! To wit, Superman was born here in Cleveland by Glenville High School students/buddies Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster. The exhibition, included free with the Cool Cleveland Kids party, showcases timeless characters like the Man of Steel, the "Dark Knight" called Batman, Captain America, Wonder Woman and more. The exhibit also offers a unique perspective on the way pop culture portrays issues and "how identity and culture can shape popular opinion." [pictured: Superman #14.
