CoolCLE PODCASTS

----- POD 02) 10.03.18 -----

On this week's episode of the CoolCLE Show, J speaks to the Greater Cleveland Chorus (left, above), a 60-strong, all female barbershop choir, about its free concert Come Fly with Us (Info) happening Tue 10/9 at the Independence Civic Center. The bird themed concert showcases its repertoire of songs being performed at the Sweet Adelines International Competition in St. Louis, Missouri.

She also previews two of the Cleveland Stories Dinner Parties (Info) with Cleveland authors, Anastasia Pantsios and Dave Schwensen. Pantsios is the editor of CoolCleveland and photographer whose photographic portfolio is part of a new book called Women to the Front: 40 Years of Women in Rock. Her photo of Pat Benetar is right, above. Schwensen, who wrote The Beatles in Cleveland, also talks about how the Fab Four's two concerts in the city back in the 60s were unlike any other. Plus, you can hear the brand new single from Cleveland's Seafair (Info) called Try, as well as music from Thor Platter (Info) and The Boom Shakalakas (Info).

On this week's (inaugural!) CoolCLE Podcast show we round up a few choice events for this week, then dive deep to learn about how two companies are hosting events that teach the public about the centuries old skills of Blacksmithing and Glass Blowing.

Your host J. introduces you to Tina Haldiman of Larchmere Fireworks (pictured above), plus Gavin Lehman of Cleveland Blacksmithing. Throughout October and November, the public has the opportunity to make a truly unique object of glass or iron with Larchmere Fireworks and Cleveland Blacksmithing. Plus, enjoy some new music from Cleveland's Sense of Purpose (pictured), Marina Strah and Shy Moon. Listen here.
