Beethoven's Ninth in Rehearsal: Tix Available
For a completely different view of the Cleveland Orchestra, Chorus and soloists, here’s an opportunity not often available. Because tickets for the three concerts scheduled this week are nearly sold out (and may well be all sold out by time you read this) management has announced an unusal event. Lower priced, general admission tickets are being sold for the Wednesday evening 'working' dress rehearsal at Severance Hall. Adult tickets are available for $25, while those for students with I.D. are $15.
The attraction? Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 the “Choral” symphony—which may usually be counted on to produce large audiences, has done it again, but with a bit of help from Leonard Bernstein’s Jeremiah, Symphony No. 1. Music Director Franz Welser-Möst will conduct the combined forces, with soloists soprano Measha Brueggergosman, mezzo-soprano Kelley O’Connor, tenor Frank Lopardo, and bass René Pape. Ms. O’Connor is also soloist in the Bernstein work. The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus is prepared by Director of Choruses Robert Porco and Assistant Director of Choruses Betsy Burleigh.
The rehearsal will begin precisely at 7:30PM, and is scheduled to continue until 10:30 PM, however, seating is not guaranteed after 7:25 PM. If you are not in your seat at that time, you may end up not being seated, so promptness is definitely a virtue on this occasion.
To charge tickets by telephone, call the ticket office at 231-1111 (Cleveland) or toll free at 800-686-1141 during regular ticket office hours. Single tickets are also available through The Cleveland Orchestra’s website at http://www.clevelandorchestra.com.
