Richard King

Principal horn, Cleveland Orchestra

Rich King has been very busy with Richard Strauss these days. In May, the Cleveland Orchestra's principal horn was soloist in the Orchestra's first performances of Strauss's Horn Concerto No. 2, then on May 31 and June 2, he is featured in Strauss's Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks. Finally, as the culmination of the Orchestra's season-ending Spring Festival Richard Strauss: His Life ~ His Inspirations, King's horn plays a major role in Strauss's comic opera Der Rosenkavalier on June 7 & 9. Rich King talks with Cool Cleveland's Thomas Mulready about what his kids and neighbors think about all the Strauss he's been rehearsing, how he runs for his health through the Shaker Lakes near his home in Cleveland Heights, and why, even though he grew up in Long Island and went to school in Philly, he now considers himself a hometown boy. http://www.ClevelandOrchestra.com
