To Sam Speck, Director, Ohio Department of Natural Resources dnrmail@dnr.state.oh.us (See Visiting Edgewater Park will cost you here) Dear Sam Speck: This, I must say, is one of the most idiotic proposals I have heard from you guys in a while. This is my state too, so don’t high-jack it with your bullshit. These parks are public and belong to everyone. I can’t imagine something like this; it will discourage people from going to the parks (which is obviously your objective). People often go to the parks when they’re desperate and in need of hope. If you pass this, they will instead be greeted by your tactless ticket booths. We pay for these parks; we all pay for them – you don’t own it. If somehow you are successful I will enjoy getting into the parks for free anyway. I could jog to the parks (my closest is Edgewater) or maybe I’ll ride my bike. On days when I’m driving, I’ll park on the street, where there is plenty of it and it’s free. Our state government subsidizes so many crummy businesses that never make it. Save some of those dollars and use it on our parks. I apologize for my anger directed at you, but I really want you to understand how stupid this is to do. The parks, even though we pay taxes, are a gift to society. It’s not your gift to give.
