Swing State @ Shaker Square Theater, 10/28 What do Barack Obama, Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Lee Fisher, Ted Strickland, J. Kenneth Blackwell, the Clintons and Jason Zone Fisher all have in common? Well, besides being heavily entrenched in the U.S. political system, they all play an important part in Jason Zone Fisher's movie Swing State. Jason, son of Democratic Lt. Governor Lee Fisher, produced, directed and starred in this feature length documentary that clearly illustrates the emotional roller coaster ride in the life of a political candidate. Jason chronicles his father's journey through his political campaign (and victory) of 2006, including the dramatic highs and lows of a rigorous schedule fueled by determination and optimism.

The film demonstrates how a career in politics weaves its way into a family’s dynamics, and how they hold it all together, individually and as a unit. It gives a first hand account of the challenges and rewards of being part of a U.S. political campaign, portraying the drive, commitment and passion necessary. It drives home the fact that politicians dedicate their lives to their careers, and in doing so, they often expose themselves and their families to the difficulties of public life. The rhythm and flow of the campaign trail, and all of the tireless work involved is admirable, but at a certain point one must ask the tough question: Is it worth it?

Swing State provides behind-the-scenes footage that features the challenges of winning Ohio’s 2006 gubernatorial election and campaigning against Kenneth Blackwell, the man responsible for delivering the battleground state to George Bush in 2004. It also highlights and clarifies the importance of Ohio as a swing state in the 2008 presidential election.

Swing State was written, produced and directed by John Intrater, Jason Zone Fisher, and H. Spencer Young. The DVD goes on sale today. For more info check out: http://www.swingstate08.com.
