The Credeaux Canvas At Ensemble Theatre 4/6

"18 years of bringing quality theatre to the Cleveland area at the Civic in Cleveland Heights, the Ensemble Theatre will be forced to find a new home due to dramatic rent increases. To celebrate the last show at the Civic, Ensemble has produced a play about art, The Credeaux Canvas. This four character play, which premiered off-Broadway two years ago, deals with a seemingly simple con: Jamie (the mentally unstable and poor son of a recently deceased wealthy art dealer), tries to convince roommate Winston (the painter/student) to forge a painting and sell it to a supposedly dim witted collector. The painting happens to be a nude, and Jamie tries to convince his girlfriend Amelia to pose for Winston. From this basic premise, four lost souls try to find their place. Directed by Artistic Director Lucia Columbi and Starring Caise Rode, Joel Nunley, Sherri Burton, and Michael John Sestili, Ensemble Theatre says goodbye to its home with a touching, heart-wrenching, challenging play about art. You can support Ensemble and all of Cleveland theatre by attending this production. The show runs 4/11, and 4/12 at 8PM, and 4/13 at 3:30PM, and 4/19 at 3:30 and 8PM. Ensemble Theatre at the Civic is located at 3130 Mayfield Rd, Cle Hts. 321-2930" from Cool Cleveland reader Paul Elliott pelliott@ideastar.com
