To celebrate legendary music producer and Clevelander Tommy LiPuma's 80th birthday, the 37th Tri-C JazzFest threw a Big Birthday Bash featuring Diana Krall, Dr. John, Al Jarreau, Leon Russell and the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, along with a who's who of special guests.
CoolCleveland caught up with some of those guests as they offered their best wishes for Tommy's big birthday.
Cleveland trumpet sensation Dominick Farinacci returned to his hometown and alma mater Tri-C to work with legendary producer Tommy LiPuma and a roster of A-list players like Steve Gadd, Christian McBride, Jacob Collier, Jamey Haddad and more.
His new album, Short Stories will have its record release CD and party on Sat 6/25 at the 37th Annual Tri-C JazzFest. Farinacci plays a few notes and talks with CoolCleveland about the recording sessions and his commitment to music education. Tri-CJazzFest.com.

Cuyahoga Community College will examine the most provocative and polarizing word in America with Trial by Jury: The Case of the N-Word. The free, interactive program is Fri 3/11 on Tri-C's Metropolitan Campus, 2900 Community College Ave., and includes a town-hall discussion with local activists.
