I'm so enjoying Jeff Biasella's features on Cleveland's "developing" waterfront. I'm a native of Toronto who lived in Cleveland for a few years back in the mid to late 1990's. I worked for the Building Industry Association (now the HBA) and later the Greater Cleveland Growth Association. A few years ago we made a decision to invest in Cleveland by supporting our daughter's decision to come back and go to one of the best art schools in the nation - the Cleveland Institute of Art. She loves it there!
I support every effort to build up Cleveland's waterfront since its an important cornerstone for the revitalization of the city of Cleveland. So many people like myself are looking for a city that has the diversity and culture of New York without the cost and conjestion. I think that's part of Cleveland's draw not only for former transplant's like myself but for its own residents who leave and then return. We'd be in that group returning to Cleveland if the move to improve the city and boost the arts continues in such an exciting direction.
While I currently work full-time in Toronto's public education sector, I personally blog and promote new urbanism and whenever I can I plug Cleveland. I'm looking forward to focusing more on the work of folks like CC founder Thomas Mulready and writers like Jeff Biasella who do so much for a city grew to love.
Good luck and great work Jeff!
