The Cool Cleveland e-blast
focuses on the events and issues that impact Northeastern Ohio, and is built on a permission-based subscriber base of tens of thousands of professionals in the business, arts, government, and non-profit sectors. Because the e-letter is so easy to forward to a friend (academic wizards call it "viral marketing"), our subscriber base continues to grow with each weekly issue.

Created in response to the familiar refrain, "There's nothing to do in this town..." Cool Cleveland was created by Thomas Mulready as a free public service highlighting essential and stimulating political and cultural current events of the week. As creator of Cool Networks LLC, Thomas Mulready leads a multi-media network utilizing blogs, podcasts, vodcasts, and e-blasts to promote economic development, arts, culture and technology in Northeast Ohio. After creating the Performance Art Festival+Archives, he co-founded the Ingenuity Festival of Art and Technology, and has served as Senior Vice President of National City Bank and worked at Richardson-Vicks, and Campbell Soup. He's played drums with Cats On Holiday, presented his performance art in New York and Paris, and served as a Senior Research Consultant in the United Kingdom.

Started in late 2002, the first issue of Cool Cleveland was a concise e-mail distributed amongst friends and acquaintances in business and the arts, as a way to share cool events in Cleveland and to examine critical issues facing the region. Since then it has quickly spread via word of mouth as readers forward it to their peers.

Why should I be a Cool Cleveland sponsor?

"The Intimacy of the In-Box"
With virtually 100% of professionals using e-mail at least once a day, and with e-mail outpacing the telephone as the preferred communication medium by a factor of ten to one, Cool Cleveland is delivered directly to the desktops of the region's influence peddlers, where they spend a significant amount of time reading and clicking on news items, events and sponsor links. The intimacy of one-to-one contact is highly valued for pr and marketing purposes.

Measurability
Using state-of-the-art software, statistics are available on the amount of people clicking on each link, and each week, the e-letter lists the Top 5 most clicked links from the previous issue. You can even elect to have readers send you an e-mail or complete a form, allowing you to measure and capture contact information.

Affordability
Compared to other media, Cool Cleveland distribution costs are reduced, allowing affordable sponsorship and a cost effective way to reach your market. Since each contact is immediate, direct, and one-to-one, the quality of the contact with readers is increased, driving up your response rate and reducing your overall costs.

Accurate Timing
The weekly cycle of Cool Cleveland e-mailings insures that your message is delivered exactly when readers can act on it, surrounded by exciting timely local events.

Call To Action
Because of the interactive nature of web-based e-mail, readers do more than just see your sponsored advertisement. They have the ability to click on a link that goes directly to your web site, to a special "Welcome Cool Cleveland Readers" page, or to an online form. Or, you can design a campaign to have readers send you or your salespeople an e-mail directly, generating mailing lists of e-mail addresses for your use. Some sponsors make a special offer to generate e-mail responses from devoted Cool Cleveland readers, while others are interested in driving traffic to their website and raising awareness among Cleveland's shakers and movers.
